Reminder Student Leadership Elections! Are you interested in becoming a member of Student Government or Class Officers? It is a great way to get involved in school leadership, being a member of your class, and representing the interests of your peers. Elections are going to be held at the end of this week May 3rd and 4th.  To run for a position you will need to get an application from Mrs. Anderson in room 221. It isn’t too late join today!

Student Leadership Camp Meeting Today! Are you interested in attending a summer camp focused on developing leadership skills and working with students from all across the State of Michigan? If so, then you need to attend today’s seminar meeting in Mrs. Anderson’s room - 221.  There you will learn all about this awesome opportunity to make new friends, develop great skills, and become a better leader in your school, sports teams, clubs, and our community. Scholarships are available! Hope to see you there! There will be sign in at the meeting.  

Prom guest forms and Post Prom guest forms are available in the main office.  If you are bringing a guest from another school you will need a guest form and it must be filled out completely before buying tickets.  Tickets will go on sale on Monday, April 23. Prom tickets will cost $35 each and Post Prom tickets will be $15 each.

Post Prom: Luau 2018! Come join the Luau party at Zap Zone after prom from 11:15-3:30 A.M.!  Your $15 ticket includes unlimited lazer tag, bouncing in “Springz” trampoline area, Glo Golf, and bumper cars!  Along with delicious food and snacks, multiple raffle prizes every 15 minutes, and other activities such as henna & airbrush tattoo, and caricatures.  Arcade is pay on your own, so bring money for that if you wish. Even if you don’t go to Prom, you can still attend Post Prom if you’re a Jr. or Sr. So, put on the perfect Luau attire, and join the party at Zap Zone!  

SADD Club is hosting DeWitt’s first AUGMENTED REALITY DISTRACTED DRIVING SIMULATOR experience this Wednesday, May 2. We will select 100-150 students to participate in an experience where you sit in a real car with Virtual reality goggles and experience the difficulties of distracted driving first hand. Students can expect to miss 40 minutes of class between 8:00 - 2:00  if they are selected to participate.

Marching Band: Rehearsals for Memorial Day will begin on May 7 and run on Mondays and Wednesdays until Memorial Day. Remember these are mandatory and part of your grade - be a good human and be there for AMERICA! (5/7)

If you signed up to take an AP Exam in May you will need to attend an AP Pre-Administration session.  Last name M-Z your make-up day will be today.

Athletics / Recognitions

The Varsity Softball Team won the Larry Baird Softball Classic on Saturday with a 12 to 2 win over LCC and an exciting 10 to 9 win over Central Montcalm.  In game one, Paige Maltby was lights out on the mound, giving up 4 hits and fanning 11 batters. Mattie Leece dominated at the plate going 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and a triple.  Camryn Bekkering also had 3 RBIs on a 2 for 3 performance. In game two, the panthers would not be denied. Down 2 to 0 after two innings, the panthers put 5 runs across in the 3rd inning and added 2 more in the 4th and 5th innings to take a 9 to 5 lead into the sixth inning.  Central Montcalm answered with 4 runs to tie the game. In the bottom of the 6th inning, Kilee Way-Walton smacked the first pitch over the centerfield fence for the walk-off 10 to 9 win and a tournament championship. The panthers improved to 7 and 4 on the season and start league play this Thursday versus Charlotte. (4/30)

Girls Track

The girls’ track team participated in the prestigious Spartan Classic Track Meet last Friday at MSU.  The following girls placed in their respective events:

3200 Meter Run - Hannah Adler - 8th Place

1600 Meter Run - Katie Vitou- 3rd Place and Ashley Shipps - 5th Place

4 X 800 Relay Team - Adler, Vitou, Shipps, and Hynes - 4th Place

200 Meter Run - Megan Pozgai had a personal best
