Students traveling to Washington DC for the Inauguration:  There is a mandatory meeting today during Seminar in the Presentation Room.  It is important you attend to receive your luggage tags and the finalized itinerary.  See Mr. Brya with questions. (1/9)


DeWitt BPA will be sponsoring a spirit week fundraiser January 9th through the 13th  as they prepare for their Regional competition and to raise money for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization. Big Brothers Big Sisters is a national organization that pairs younger students in need of roll models with young adult leaders to become positive influences in their lives.In orde r to participate in this spirit week they ask that you make the small donation of 50 cents a day or save 50 cents and buy a VIP wristband for $2.00 for the whole week. Wristbands for proof of donating will be sold during both lunches. The themes for the week are as follows :

Mixed up Monday- wear clothes inside out backwards or mix match

Top Hat Tuesday – wear your favorite hat  

Woke up like this Wednesday – PJ day

Hawaiian Thursday

Flashback Friday – bring back trends from the past  


The Video Production class and DeWitt Creativity Group will be hosting a student film showcase on Wednesday, January 18th from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.. The event will take place in "The Idea Hive" and include the viewing of student produced documentary short films and other creative shorts as well as conversations with the filmmakers. This event is FREE to attend. For questions and inquiries or a FREE ticket to the event see Mr. Croley as seating is limited.  (1/18)


Winter Apparel Drive January 9-13th: Please donate your new or gently used winter coats, hats, mittens, gloves, and scarves by turning them in before school and at lunches at the Panther Pause Cafe.  Key Club members will be helping to collect and will be giving out coupons for Panther Pause Cafe to those who donate.  All donations will be given to Homeless Angels who help the homeless in the greater Lansing area.  Please see Mrs. Anderson or a Key Club member for details or questions.   


Student Services


If you are interested in a CCRESA Program for next year, stop in Student Services to sign up for the RESA recruitment day which is scheduled for several different dates in January.  There are signup sheets on the counter.  On Friday there will be instructors from the Allied Health and Sports Medicine programs.

EISD Career Prep Programs: Those students that went on the field trip and are interested in signing up for a Career Prep Program must do the following:

*meet with your counselor and pick up a contract that must be filled out and signed by yourself and a parent.  Contracts are available in Student Services

AP Testing: All students taking an AP class this school year interested in taking the AP exam must sign up in Student Services.  You will need a $15 non-refundable deposit at the time you sign up.  

Attention Seniors - Grand Rapids Building Services (GRBS) is offering a $1,000.00 scholarship to seniors.  Applications are available in Student Services.  Deadline is February 17, 2017.  

Local Scholarship applications are now available in Student Services.  If you are interested in local scholarships, stop into Student Services and fill out the form.  


Athletics / Recognitions


ATTENTION SOFTBALL PLAYERS: There is a meeting in Coach Nolen’s room 237 today during Seminar. Our “TEAM COMPETITION” starts today.  Make sure to check your team in my classroom today, if you haven’t already done so. Rules and Scoring are also posted in my room.  (1/9)


DeWitt Lacrosse Club Information Night - Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 7:30 in the Junior High Auditorium.  This meeting is for girls and boys JV and Varsity players and parents.


Grace George had 15 points and 5 steals, while Annie McIntosh added 10 points and 7 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as the Varsity Girls basketball team dropped their first game of the season to Waverly on Friday night by a score of 55-47. The team travels to Mount Pleasant on Tuesday for a tripleheader, starting with the 9th grade game at 4:00. (1-9)
