Business Professionals of America is accepting applications for membership. See the bulletin  board outside Panther Pause Cafe for information on how to become a member. New and interested members should plan to attend the Informational Meeting on Fri., September 14 (note this is a date change). Applications are DUE by Fri., September 21. (9/21)


LINKS-- There is a LINKS meeting for students enrolled in the class today. This is only for the students take it as a class this nine weeks in Ms. Huff’s room. (9/10)


FCCLA members:

NEW MEMBER MEETING

If you are interested in being a NEW FCCLA member please come to our NEW member meeting on Wednesday September 12th (please note date change). PLEASE sign UP and RSVP outside room 132 and get a pass from MRS. Blake TODAY during seminar. Teachers..there will be a sign up sheet and I will send that list out after the meeting is over. Remember, you MUST have taken an FCS class (Parenting, Nutrition and Foods, Personal Living or Family and Society) to be an FCCLA member. Applications will be accepted until the end of October. If you are unable to come to the meeting please get a membership form from Mrs. Blake.

Our first chapter project will be  a focus on Suicide prevention month. (9/12)


DHS ART DEPARTMENT is having its first annual sidewalk chalk art competition.  The event will be held on Monday, September 24th from 2:30 - 5:30pm on the front patio/sidewalk area of the high school.  Registration will be held from 2:30-3, with creation time from 3-5, judging immediately after, with awards presented by 6pm.  Squares will be sold during both lunches beginning this wednesday for only $10 a square. You can create by yourself or get a group of friends to work together.  Cash prizes and more will be given out. Let’s kick off homecoming week with some creative fun!! Renaissance Club: Our first meeting is this WEDNESDAY during seminar in the library.

Renaissance is a club dedicated to making sure that DeWitt High School is an awesome place for ALL students. We host the annual Haunted Trail and we sponsor the Blue and Gold Student Recognition programs. If you would like to join Renaissance, we’ll see you Wednesday in the library! (9/12)

Powderpuff Participation and Shirts: Reminder shirt money for powderpuff is due to Mrs. Anderson’s room by Friday, September 14th.  You must have a shirt to be on the field for powderpuff on Sunday, September 23rd. To sign up for participating in powderpuff and to get practice updates see your class president.  Juniors this is Grace Scheaffer and Seniors this is Olivia Reid. (9/14)


Class Color Spirit Shirts are Available to Order! Please turn in your order forms for our Class Spirit Shirts to be worn on the Friday of homecoming week.  Shirts are $10 and all orders are due by Thursday, September 20th. You may give your orders to your seminar teachers who will get them to Mrs. Anderson. (9/19)


Attention Robotics teams we will be having our first meeting on Thursday, September 13th after school. If you are interested in joining Robotics or finding out more information stop by Mr. Bush’s room or come to the meeting! (9/12)


Seniors who did not buy a yearbook their freshman year, the year of 2015, we will be selling them the rest of this week. They will be sold for ½ price, $40 If you are interested please talk to Shelby Sims or Meredith Nakfoor.  Checks can be made out to DeWitt Yearbook . Buy one before they are gone. (9/14)


Attention Japanese Club members or those interested.  We will have our first meeting this Wednesday, Sept. 12 during seminar in the library. (9/12)


DeWitt Creativity Group  All students interested in working with the DCG should come to the first meeting of the year in Mr. Croley’s room on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 during Seminar. We will be discussing several initiatives for the upcoming year (9/12)


Student Services

Tutors Needed:  Any junior or senior that would like to tutor students, applications are available in the Student Services office.  You must have a 3.5 grade in the subject you wish to tutor. You can charge for your services, get volunteer hours for NHS or just volunteer.  Applications are due by Friday, September 21st.

Upcoming College Visits to DHS: Sept 12, MSU and Sept 21, Hope College.  If you would like to hear more about these colleges, stop into Student Services and sign up.  The book is on the counter.

Seniors - Please turn in the Consent for Access to Student Transcripts form to your seminar teacher if you haven’t already done so.  This form is now due. We will not send out your transcript to colleges until we receive this form. This applies to athletic recruiters as well.


Athletics / Recognitions


Tennis:  Girls interested in playing tennis in the Spring there will be a brief meeting on Tuesday September 11th in Room 101 after school with Coach Hitchcock. This meeting will talk about hitting this fall. (9/10)


The Girls’ Swim and Dive Team finished 4th at the DeWitt Invitational on Saturday.   Allison Flannery took first place in the 100 Backstroke.

Jordyn Shipps, Monique Jackson, Allison Flannery, and Lisette Fenneuff qualified for the MHSAA Finals in the 400 Freestyle Relay. Jordyn Shipps qualified for the MHSAA Finals in the 200 Freestyle, the 100 Butterfly, and the 100 Freestyle.

Lisette Fenneuff qualified for the MHSAA Finals in the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Breaststroke. Overall the girls set 24 Personal records. (9/10)


Congrats to the Lady Panther Cross Country Team. The team took 4th place out a 16 team Division 1 teams at the Bath Invitation this past Saturday.

Leading the panthers were Ashley Shipps, Sofia Perez, Kaitlyn Hynes, Elsa Rusthoven, Delaney Kirinovic, Elise Snyder, and Grace Hungerford. Also, a huge shout out to Linh Dang one of our exchange students who completed her first 5K. (9/10)
