FCCLA (start 9/6 and read until 9/15)

Family Career and Community Leaders of America is a dynamic organization with its sole purpose serving families and the community while focusing on career exploration. If you are interested in joining FCCLA for the upcoming school year please see MRS. Blake (room 132) for more information. In order to be eligible to join FCCLA you must have take a FCS class (Nutrition and Foods, Parenting, Personal Living or Family & Society). Our first meeting will be Friday september 15th during seminar. We will be discussing upcoming events and membership.

INSPIRED by FCCLA is our theme for the 2017/2018 school year.


Hurricane Harvey Relief Drive (start 9/6 and read until 9/13)- Remember to bring in donations to your Seminar teacher now through Thursday, September 14th.


Robotics: The Robotics Teams will start the season this Thursday September 14th after school in Mr. Bush’s room. If you are interested in being a part of robotics feel free to stop by and see what goes on and get some more information about our program. The DHS Renaissance Club: Is a group of students working together to improve our school and recognize students for their achievements. Our first meeting is this Friday, September 15th during seminar. If you are a part of Renaissance or would like to join, we’ll see you in room 129.


Senior NHS members need to plan on meeting in Mr. Croley's room on Wednesday the 13th for a meeting. This meeting is only for current  NHS members.


Attention Seniors: The deadline for headshots to be submitted to the yearbook staff is by midnight on Friday, October 13th. Exterior photos may not be used. Head shots must be a traditional studio picture with a plain (preferably dark background) --No hands or props allowed in the frame. Photos can be emailed to dewittyearbook2018@gmail.com --Please communicate with your photographers to ensure you make the deadline as late photos will not be included in the book. If you are in need of a traditional head shot see Dillion Grey. Questions can be directed to Liz VanDerWoude or Danielle Lewis (read 9/8 and 9/11)




Student Services

Applications are now available in Student Services for students interested in tutoring.   

Seniors - if you are interested in receiving important senior information and reminders including scholarship and other information, sign up for Mrs. Gerrish’s Remind notification.  Information is in Student Services.

College Visits - Seniors - The following colleges and universities will be visiting during September:  Northern Michigan University visit is TODAY in the Presentation room. Michigan State University, Baker College , Grand Valley State University and the University of Chicago are scheduled in September.  Sign up in Student Services.  


Athletics / Recognitions


Congratulations to the Equestrian Team...  Please help me congratulate the team for being in first place after the first meet and wish them good luck next weekend!

Good luck to Olivia Sand (captain), Alyssa Luzkow and groom Shaun Curtis.


The Girls’ Swim and Dive Team lost a close meet to Holt on Thursday. Alayna Rios, Jordyn Shipps, Karlie Janik, Lisette Fenneuff, and Sydney Shipps all won first places.  The team set 36 personal records.

The Team took 2nd place at the DeWitt Invitational on Saturday.  Jordyn Shipps, Karlie Janik, Lisette Fenneuff, Sydney Shipps, and Victoria Powe all took first places. Jordyn Shipps set a school record in the 100 Backstroke.


Girls’ Cross Country Team Congrats to the Lady Panthers Cross Country team for taking the runner-up trophy in this past weekend Bath Invite.  The Panthers placed second, just 12 points from Saline, in the Division 1 girls race.  The Panthers ran well and were lead by Katie Vitou, Ashley Shipps, Hannah Adler, Sofia Perez, Stephanie Robinson, Delaney Kirinovic, and freshman Kaitlyn Hynes.  Great start to the season Ladies!


There will be a lacrosse meeting on Friday, September 15th for any girl interested in playing. Please meet in the commons during seminar.
