This Wednesday the Friends of the Looking Glass and RIvertown Adventure will be offering a FREE program for anyone interested in learning more about kayaking. It will include water safety, paddling skills, and experience of the river. The FREE workshop takes place at RIverside Park this Wednesday from 4:30 - 6:00. Whether you already own a kayak and want to brush up on your skills or if you would like to discover the enjoyment of a relaxing sport that embraces nature, head to Riverside Park this Wednesday and enjoy all the river has to offer.  (9/19)

Homecoming Court Nominations!  Reminder Homecoming Court Nominations are live.  You may vote until the end of the day today, Monday, September 17th at 3pm. (9/17)

Homecoming Court Announcement Assembly: Will be held Friday, September 21st during seminar.  Remember to check in at seminar before you head to the gym for a fun kick off to Homecoming week! We will reveal who made homecoming court and several other fun surprises for the week! (9/19)

Class Hallway Decorating: Will be held Friday, September 21 after school until 6pm and on Sunday the 23rd after powder puff from 3-6pm.  Come help your class decorate your hallway in your class color! Bring donations of balloons, streamers, paint, paper and much more in your class color to make your hallway show your class spirit! Bonus - if you have ordered a Class Color Spirit Shirt there will be snacks provided for you on Friday! If you have any questions contact your Class President, class advisor, or student government. DHS ART DEPARTMENT is having its first annual sidewalk chalk art competition.  The event will be held on Monday, September 24th. Squares will be sold during both lunches for only $10 a square.  YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A GREAT ARTIST TO JOIN IN ON THE FUN AND WIN PRIZES!!  You can create by yourself or get a group of friends to work together.  Cash prizes and more will be given out.  Let’s kick off homecoming week with some creative fun!!  SIGN UP AT LUNCHES THIS WEEK AND NEXT WEEK! Video Game Club: There is a Video game club meeting Friday 9/21, right after school in Mr Phillips’ room.  Room 202. Anyone interested in being involved with VGC should attend this meeting. All should attend. We are looking for officers for the club. (9/21)

Powderpuff Game: The powderpuff game will be held this Sunday, September 23rd from 2-3pm at the Stadium - weather permitting.  Come cheer on the class of 2019 and 2020 in their duel for a powderpuff win! This will be a great way to get our Homecoming spirit started! (9/21)

Class Color Spirit Shirts are Available to Order! Please turn in your order forms for our Class Spirit Shirts to be worn on the Friday of homecoming week.  Shirts are $10 and all orders are due by Thursday, September 20th. You may give your orders to your seminar teachers who will get them to Mrs. Anderson. (9/19)

Tutors Needed:  Any junior or senior that would like to tutor students, applications are available in the Student Services office.  You must have a 3.5 grade in the subject you wish to tutor. You can charge for your services, get volunteer hours for NHS or just volunteer.  Applications are due by Friday, September 21st.

Upcoming College Visits to DHS: Week of September 17th - Davenport University, Hope College and Kettering University.  If you would like to hear more about these colleges, stop into Student Services and sign up.  The book is on the counter.

Athletics / Recognitions

Attention all girls trying out for basketball in November: If you are not currently playing a Fall sport, Coach Uyl may be wondering why she has not seen you at the off-season conditioning workouts every Monday and Thursday right after school. These workouts are for Varsity, JV and Freshman prospects. (9-17)

The Girls’ Swim and Dive Team finished 5th at the Comet Cup invitational on Saturday. Jordyn Shipps took first in the 100 Butterfly.  Allison Flannery qualified for the MHSAA Finals in the 100 Backstroke. Jordyn Shipps qualified for the MHSAA Finals in the 200 Individual Medley.  The team set 20 personal records. (9/17)
