Winterfest Rescheduled

There will be a Lockin on Friday from 9pm-1am and a dance, bounce houses, volleyball, basketball, euchre tournament are all part of the plan.  

Cool Stuff: There is a community poetry slam happening on March 10 at The Crafted Bean in downtown DeWitt. If you’re interested in sharing poetry, storytelling, or sharing art related to diversity and inclusion, see Mr. DeLaCruz or Mr. Croley ASAP - spots are filling up fast!  There is also a DeWitt Community Open Minds Book Club where community members are invited to discuss The Hate You Give on February 24 at 2:30 pm in the DeWitt Public Library! FCCLA: This week is FCCLA week!  FCCLA is having a bake sale this week to fundraise for our Fall Events. We will be selling Brownies, Sugar Cookies, Assorted Cookies, Puppy Chow (peanut free AND regular), and no bake cookies. There will be frosting available for those who want an added sweet treat.

Do you write for fun? Do you want to be published? Check out our very own Creative Writing Club meeting every other Thursday -- tomorrow! -- in Mr. DeLaCruz’s room. We’re planning on publishing this spring, so come down and get to writing! (2/24)

Attention all students: The art department needs your voice! Eight of our very own talented students are featured in the MSU Student Art Exhibit, which is on display January 25-February 28. Drawing & sculpture students from NW2: Your artwork is ready to be picked up in Ms. Schultz’s room. Today is your last chance to pick up your artwork from the last nine weeks. (2/16)

Grease Update: There will be an informational meeting about Grease auditions TODAY after announcements. At the meeting you will receive character information, your audition pieces, AND your audition time-slot. If you miss the meeting we cannot guarantee you will get a time to audition. Auditions will begin at 2:30pm on Tuesday, March 20th. Please remember that the musical is a CLASS next year and to take part you will need to sign-up. (2/14)

Book Club - In the future, the air quality is so bad, the last remaining people on earth have to live in an underground silo. Thank goodness there are those who take care of others and establish order. But, what if the powers that be are lying to you? Worse yet, what if they are taking advantage of their power and pulling the WOOL over your eyes? Book club is reading Wool, a dystopian novel by Hugh Howey. Attention Seniors - Local Scholarship information is now available for interested seniors.  Stop into Student Services if you are interested.  

Any student interested in AP tests, sign up in Student Services.  A $15.00 deposit is due at the time of sign up.  There is an AP testing schedule posted in Student Services.


Athletics / Recognitions

The Girls Varsity basketball team clinched at least a share of the CAAC-Red title with a 50-37 win over Waverly last night. Grace George led the way with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Annie McIntosh scored 13 points and Sydney Mills had 12 rebounds. The team hosts Haslett on Friday night at 6:00. (2/14)

Wrestling!  Come support the wrestlers as they take on #4 ranked Eaton Rapids in the regional finals tonight! Please wear Gold or yellow and be in Eaton Rapids by 7PM. If you’ve never been to a wrestling event, this is the one to attend! Go Panthers! (2/14)

DeWitt Baseball players:  MLB pitchers and catchers report to spring training next week.  In the spirit of the new season we are holding “Live AB Battles” in the Mezz all next week.  Check your school email for a Google Doc to get signed up.

Girls Soccer Mediterranean Dinner Fundraiser Will be Friday, February 16, 2018, in the DeWitt High School Commons, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Cost is $10.00 per ticket and dinner is available during the Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball games.  Dine in or take-out available.  Tickets available through any girls varsity soccer player.
