BOOK CLUB: After school, on Friday, January 9th, Book Club will meet in Mr. Battaglia’s room to discuss the book Room. We will then watch the film version so get your popcorn ready. Finally, we will select our next book. That is room 224, this coming Friday, right after school. (read through Friday 1-9-17)


Attention BPA members:  We have a BPA meeting today in the auditorium right after announcements. Please attend. Again, BPA meeting today in the auditorium.


DeWitt BPA will be sponsoring a spirit week fundraiser January 9th through the 13th  as they prepare for their Regional competition and to raise money for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization. Big Brothers Big Sisters is a national organization that pairs younger students in need of roll models with young adult leaders to become positive influences in their lives. In order to participate in this spirit week they ask that you make the small donation of 50 cents a day or save 50 cents and buy a VIP wristband for $2.00 for the whole week. Wristbands for proof of donating will be sold during both lunches this Thursday and Friday January 5th and 6th . The themes for next week are as follows :

Mixed up Monday- wear clothes inside out backwards or mix match

Top Hat Tuesday – wear your favorite hat  

Woke up like this Wednesday – PJ day

Hawaiian Thursday

Flashback Friday – bring back trends from the past  

The list of themes will be posted on flyers around the school, as well as in the Panther Pause Café. 


All cast members of the winter show: There will be an important full cast meeting today during Pride. Please go directly to Mr. Croley's room after announcements.


The Video Production class and DeWitt Creativity Group will be hosting a student film showcase on Wednesday, January 18th from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.. The event will take place in "The Idea Hive" and include the viewing of student produced documentary short films and other creative shorts as well as conversations with the filmmakers. This event is FREE to attend. For questions and inquiries or a FREE ticket to the event see Mr. Croley as seating is limited.  


This Friday there will be an Improv Troupe informational meeting in Mr. Croley's room during Seminar. Please make plans to attend if you are interested in participating in any of the following: upcoming Improv Troupe meetings and gigs, the spring sketch comedy show, or the Chicago Theater trip.


Key Club Members:  We have a Key Club meeting this Friday, January 6th in the Library.  Please Attend to help plan our Winter Coat Drive.  


Just a Reminder that there is NO food allowed in the Library. Thank you for helping keep it clean.


ART Students from this school year...I am in need of your artwork for upcoming shows.  If you would like to have your art be considered for the exhibits, please submit ONE piece from the current school year.  See Ms. Norman with any questions.  These need to be submitted by Friday, Jan. 6th to be considered for the MSUFCU Art Show.  


Student Services


If you are interested in a CCRESA Program for next year, stop in Student Services to sign up for the RESA recruitment day which is scheduled for several different dates in January.  There are signup sheets on the counter.  Today will be a presentation on CAD and Design Technology, Construction Trades and Automotive Technology & Repair.  On Friday there will be presentations on Computer, Digital Media Arts and Business Management and Entrepreneurship.

EISD Career Prep Programs: Those students that went on the field trip and are interested in signing up for a Career Prep Program must do the following:

*meet with your counselor and pick up a contract that must be filled out and signed by yourself and a parent.  Contracts are available in Student Services

AP Testing: All students taking an AP class this school year interested in taking the AP exam must sign up in Student Services.  You will need a $15 non-refundable deposit at the time you sign up.  Sign up begins January 9th.

Attention Seniors - Grand Rapids Building Services (GRBS) is offering a $1,000.00 scholarship to seniors.  Applications are available in Student Services.  Deadline is February 17, 2017.  



Athletics / Recognitions


DeWitt Lacrosse Club Information Night - Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 7:30 in the Junior High Auditorium.  This meeting is for girls and boys JV and Varsity players and parents.


There is a football meeting for all 2017 varsity and junior varsity football players this Friday, January 6 during seminar in the gym.


Any guys interested in running track this spring stop up to Coach Acres room 226 and sign up
