BOOK CLUB: We will meet this coming Sunday, that is March 5th at Schuler’s Books and Music in Eastwood Town Center at high noon. We will discuss the Nicholas Sparks book we read and of course, vote on our next selection. If you can’t get enough Nicholas Sparks, this is the place for you, even if you are not technicaly a memeber, come out and chat. For those of you that do not share an interest in Nicholas Sparks, there is room for you as well; you can help select the next novel we will read. Today during Seminar there will be a "SHARE" in The Idea Hive a.k.a. Mr. Croley's room. All students and staff are welcome to attend. Members of The DeWitt Creativity Group and Creative Writing class are especially encouraged to attend to support those students who are sharing stories and creative pieces. If you have not attended a SHARE during Pride you are missing out. Come listen to student voices give inspirational, uplifting, and thoughtful testimonies, stories, and creative works. Athletics / Recognitions
The Varsity Girls basketball team moved to 20-1 Monday night, with a hard-fought 54-49 victory over Waverly in the first round of the Class A Districts. Annie McIntosh led another balanced scoring effort with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Grace George added 12 points and 9 rebounds, while Sydney Mills chipped in with 10 points. The girls play Wednesday night at 7:30 at East Lansing High School - against Lansing Everett. Come on out to show your support! (3/1)
The boys freshman basketball team: Destroyed an undefeated Lansing Everett team last night 64-49 to raise their record to 15-1. The team was lead early by Joey Villarreall, who was playing with a heavy heart after he lost his great grandfather this weekend.. Joey had 8 of the teams first 12 points and ended with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Mason Gilbert had 12 points and 8 rebounds. Caileb Brown added 10 points, Cooper Phillips 9 points and Jay Stevons added 8 points. Mikhail Sacla played great defense and added 6 points and led the team in rebounds with 9 and assist with 4. The boys complete their season Thursday at Grand Ledge.
Men’s Swim and Dive Races To Pool and Varsity Record at the annual 2nd shave meet held last night at Grand Ledge High School. It took switching around the swimming order and strokes of three of the four swimmers but the team bested their season time by .7 seconds overall and broke the existing Varsity Record from 1994 which was 1:42.23 and the existing Grand Ledge Pool record from 1999 which was 1:42.13 set by Coach Delaney and 3 teammates for Holt! The final time was 1:41.56 with Nick Schieberl swimming backstroke, Ryan McVicker breast stroke, Myles Michalski on his 16th birthday swimming butterfly and Ryan Armbrustmacher freestyle. Congratulations gentleman and go get em at states on March 10th and 11th! (3/1)
Attention those of you planning to play a spring sport: Spring sports start March 13 and you must have a physical on file in order to try out. So, get this taken care of prior to tryouts or your coach will not be happy and you won’t be able to participate! (through March 8)
