Students from Mr. Croley’s class and the DeWitt Creativity Group will be hosting an open mic Poetry Slam on Monday, November 23rd  and everyone is invited. This event will take place from 7pm until 8:30 in "The Idea Hive" a.k.a. Mr. Croley's room. (Refreshments will be provided) Students are encouraged to read an original work or a meaningful poem from a favorite author. The invitation also extends to those who might want to simply come and enjoy the positive vibe of words bouncing off the walls. Come enjoy the power of poetry while celebrating diversity, courage, and voices that matter. Bring a poem, bring a friend....stay awhile, make a friend..... leave feeling inspired. If you plan on attending, please take a minute to sign up on the door outside of Mr. Croley’s room by the end of the day Friday so that seating arrangements can be made accordingly. Key Club: We will be meeting Friday November 20th in the presentation room, please attend.  Also, Please sign up for a 2 hour shift of bell ringing raising money for The Salvation Army on Saturday November 28th or Saturday December 19th!  Sign up is outside Mrs. Schafer’s room. Also, don’t forget about our chartering ceremony, this Sunday, starting at 2:00 in the commons.  Please RSVP for you and your guests at the key club e-mail, on the invitation.

Culinary Club there is a meeting today. Bring you ideas and information!

BOOK CLUB: We are reading “The Girl on the Train “ by Paula Hawkins. See Mr. B if you would like to pick up a copy. (11/18)

Teachers please double check that you have been given a collection box for the "Pasta for Pennies" program which is a Pride contest aimed to assist the Leukemia Society. The boxes will be in Pride classes until November 24th. The class who raises the most money will be rewarded with an Olive Garden lunch especially catered by Liam Lynch and select members of NHS.

Mr. B’s English Plus Class: If you would like to keep your writer’s notebooks, please pick them up BEFORE the Thanksgiving break from Mr. B’s room.

Japanese Club Members:  There is a meeting today during seminar in the Library to discuss the next event.  (11/18)

Student Services:

Attention Juniors and Seniors….The Junior High is looking for student volunteers for an activity that the 8th graders will be participating in called Life Unplugged (formally the Reality Store).  This event will take place on Tuesday, November 24.  They are in need of at least 32 students from 7:45 -11:00 am and 6 students from 11:30 am-1:30 pm.  Please stop into Students Services and sign up if you’re interested in volunteering for this activity.  

Eaton Career Preparation center sign up begins today.  If you are interested in enrolling in a Eaton RESA Career Preparation Center program for the 2016-2017 school year, come to Student Services and check out all the programs that will be offered.  There will be a field trip in December for any student interested in this program.  Sign up begins today!  

Scholarship opportunity:   Michigan Education Association (MEA) scholarship opportunity is now available in Student Services.  Remember to check the Student Services Website for all available scholarships as the website is frequently updated with available scholarships.
Greater Lansing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission Scholarship if now available in Student Services.  The deadline is December 4, 2015.  If you are interested, pick up the application as soon as possible.

Sign up for the practice SAT is now available online through DeWitt Community Education.  The full practice SAT will be held on Saturday, December 5 from approximately 7:45 am - 1:00 pm.  Cost is $35.00.  There is limited space for this practice test.

NCAA Eligibility Meeting: All juniors who have registered with the NCAA Clearinghouse please come down to the presentation room on Tuesday, November 17th during Seminar.  Brief meeting to go over eligibility requirements.

Congratulations to Kara Johnson as she was selected to represent DeWitt HS at this year’s Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Conference held at Northwood University in May.

Athletics / Recognitions
