BOOK CLUB: We are reading Perks of Being a Wallflower, a fantastic coming of age story. We will be meeting in Mr. B’s room, #224, during seminar this Friday October 16th to discuss the book. The goal is to be about half way through. Regardless, if you have only read a few pages or the whole book, stop by for a chat this coming Friday. Towards the end of October, we will meet at Schuler’s Books and Music to sip coffee and discuss the whole novel.(10/16)   

Please renew your SSR library books the due date was Sept. 28th! Students as a reminder all library books are only checked out for 14 days, and may be renewed if you need the book longer. Teachers if you have your class keep their SSR books in your classroom, please bring your class to the library to renew their books.

Ski/Snowboard Club: If there is anyone interested in being a part of the Ski/Snowboard Club there will be a meeting in the presentation room on Wednesday 10/21. We will be discussing the dates of the first two trips we will be taking. If you have any questions contact Adam Kahler.

Do you want to join a club that makes our school a better place?  The Renaissance Club will be having a first meeting on Friday, October 30th in the library during Seminar.  Come check it out.

College Visits today: Alma College and U of M Flint will be visiting today during Seminar.  Sign up in Student Services if you wish to attend.  There are several slots available on Friday for Western Michigan University on-site admissions.  Stop into Student Services if interested.

Seniors - There is a scholarship opportunity available for high school seniors submitting an essay describing their relationship with a relative diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.  For more information stop into Student Services.

Sign up for the practice SAT is now available online through DeWitt Community Education.  The full practice SAT will be held on Saturday, December 5 from approximately 7:45 am - 1:00 pm.  Cost is $35.00.  There is limited space for this practice test.

Riverwalk Theatre Performing Arts Scholarship is a new scholarship and now available in Student Services.  Riverwalk Theatre will be awarding two $2,500 scholarships to performing arts students attending a Michigan college or university.  The scholarship will be awarded to students in programs of theatre, theatrical design, performing arts management, music and dance.  Applications online and in Student Services office.

Any Sophomore interested in the HOBY Leadership Essay contest, please stop in Student Services to pick up an application.  For more information on the HOBY Leadership contest, see your Seminar teacher or stop into Student Services.

Dual Enrollment registration will begin next Wednesday during seminar. Please see Mrs. Patterson if you have any questions.

Athletics / Recognitions

All girls interested in trying out for girls basketball in November: Be sure to have your athletic physical completed and turned in to the athletic office before tryouts begin on Monday - November 9th.  Varsity tryouts will run from 3:00-5:30 that week in the high school gym, while JV and 9th grade tryouts will take place at Herbison Woods from 3:30-5:30 each day.  Contact Coach McCullen in Room 233 if you have any questions. There is a Freshmen Boys Basketball meeting Wednesday, October 21st in library during seminar.
