FCCLA (start 9/6 and read until 9/15)

Family Career and Community Leaders of America is a dynamic organization with its sole purpose serving families and the community while focusing on career exploration. If you are interested in joining FCCLA for the upcoming school year please see MRS. Blake (room 132) for more information. In order to be eligible to join FCCLA you must have take a FCS class (Nutrition and Foods, Parenting, Personal Living or Family & Society). Our first meeting will be Friday september 15th during seminar. We will be discussing upcoming events and membership.

INSPIRED by FCCLA is our theme for the 2017/2018 school year.


Fall Musical - There will be a Music Man meeting today during seminar in the Choir Room. Please attend to receive your scripts, sign-up for the Remind, and talk through the schedule. (9/8)


LINKS Meeting

There will be a LINKS meeting in Ms. Huff’s room for all students enrolled in the LINKS course this nine weeks. Please attend to receive important information about LINKS.


Japanese Club:  We are so excited to start Japanese Club again and this year it is completely different. If you are a new student, exchange student, or have been at Dewitt your whole life, it isn't too late to join! Don't feel obligated to have taken a Japanese class or know anything about the culture. If you are interested at all in learning about the culture or meeting new people, feel free to pop in! We will be holding monthly activities and events and weekly meeting on Wednesdays. We hope to do more with food, culture, and maybe even sumo wrestling. Go down to Cousins' room and get a pass and come check us out! Our first meeting is this Wednesday(Tomorrow) in Cousins' room number 238 during seminar to discuss what's in store for us this year. Come see if you would be interested!  (9/5 - 9/6)


Robotics: The Robotics Teams will start the season next Thursday September 14th after school in Mr. Bush’s room. If you are interested in being a part of robotics feel free to stop by and see what goes on and get some more information about our program. Current Senior NHS members looking for "service hours" should see Mr. Croley today during Seminar for a great opportunity. A small group of four or five people is needed for an in school project. See Mr. Croley for details.




There will be an important DeWitt Creativity Group meeting this Friday in "The Idea Hive" -- All are welcome --If you want to connect, create, and celebrate along side of others who are passionate about utilizing their talents to create positive synergy stop down to Mr. Croley's room for the first meeting of the year. Students who participated in the Empathy and Inclusion workshop are encouraged to attend as well others who enjoy attending the Poetry Slams, SHARE sessions, Doc Film nights, and Improvisation workshops. If you want to make the most of your opportunity to share ideas, celebrate diversity, serve others, lead, create, innovate, and collaborate in order to amplify your entrepreneurial mindset and build an impressive resume at the same time come down and check it out.  


Attention Seniors: The deadline for head shots to be submitted to the yearbook staff is by midnight on Friday, October 13th. Exterior photos may not be used. Head shots must be a traditional studio picture with a plain (preferably dark background) --No hands or props allowed in the frame. Photos can be emailed to dewittyearbook2018@gmail.com --Please communicate with your photographers to ensure you make the deadline as late photos will not be included in the book. If you are in need of a traditional head shot see Dillion Grey. Questions can be directed to Liz VanDerWoude or Danielle Lewis



Student Services

Applications are now available in Student Services for students interested in tutoring.   

Seniors - if you are interested in receiving important senior information and reminders including scholarship and other information, sign up for Mrs. Gerrish’s Remind notification.  Information is is Student Services.

College Visits - Seniors - The following colleges and universities will be visiting during September:  Northern Michigan University, Michigan State University, Baker College , Grand Valley State University and the University of Chicago.  Sign up in Student Services.  



Athletics / Recognitions


All girls planning to try out for basketball: Conditioning workouts have begun out at the track on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-4:00.  You can only attend these workouts if you are NOT currently playing a Fall sport at DeWitt and they are open to grades 9-12. (9/6)


Girls’ Golf

  The girls golf team won the Ithaca Invitational last Friday with four girls placing in the top ten.  Elaina DeRose led the way with a 75 and she was the medalist, meaning she was the low score for the whole tournament.  Mackenzie Smith shot 86, Morgan Colby 88, and Erin Chapko 93. Great job ladies!
