Good Luck to Boys Golf in the State Finals:

Friday & Saturday – 06/07 & 06/08

Boys Varsity Golf AWAY AT Forest Acres West (MSU) (MHSAA State Finals) – 9:00 a.m.

DeWitt High School has qualified for the State Finals in MHSAA Division 2 Boys Golf to be played at Forest Akers West golf course on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing on Friday, June 7th and Saturday, June 8th.

The MHSAA will be using a “ live scoring method” in boys golf, at the Division 2 Boys Golf State finals. While live scoring has become the norm at many PGA, NCAA and other high profile amateur golf events, it is relatively new to the high school golf world.

The MHSAA is partnering with a live scoring company called Birdiefire ( www.birdiefire.com ) to develop a method for giving coaches, parents, peers and others instant access to live scores every three holes directly from Forest Akers West whether they are there or not.

While normal MHSAA scoring protocol will exist for the tournament where only the posted scores at the end of a round will be official, Birdiefire will allow us to give out a website address and have anybody follow the entire tournament live from their computer or smartphone. The best thing about this new system is that it is completely FREE at this time.

The impact that it will have on players and teams is that it will require players to verbally state their scores to course volunteers at 6 designated spots during their round. The entire threesome will simply verbally state their names and scores at the designated spots to the course volunteer and move on to the next hole.

The direct link to the BirdieFire live scoring system for MHSAA Division 2 is : http://bfire.co/-86746/ Please remember that this link will not be active until Friday morning when the Division 2 Golf Final starts at 9:00 a.m.

The MHSAA hopes that family, friends, and golf fans will find the Birdiefire live scoring system to be beneficial to those who might not be able to physically make it to East Lansing on Friday and Saturday and provide a new way of “watching” high school golf in Michigan. We are planning on using live scoring going forward as a way to enhance the tournament experience for all.

Participation Fees and Sports Physicals

Sports participation fee will again remain at $225 per student-athlete for the 2019-2020 school year (with a cap of $500 per family). The cap extends for grades 7-12.

Sports physicals are offered to students going into grades 7-12 for the 2019-2020 school year. Physicals will take place on Monday, June 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at DeWitt High School. Physicals must be dated after April 15 AND on MHSAA physical cards (for those choosing to get physicals off site).

Families are encouraged to pay the full sports participation fee when arriving for a physical. (However, a minimum payment of $125 toward the sports participation fee is required in order to get a physical.)

Fees can be paid by cash, check, or credit card. Checks should be made payable to DeWitt High School. Payment by credit card is now available online by clicking the “Online Payments” icon on the DeWitt Athletics website; onsite payment will also be available. (NOTE: there is a small service fee to use the credit card payment option)

Summer Construction

Please see this map for an update on this summer's road and building construction on our main campus. Panther Drive will be closed from the tennis courts to the high school staff parking lot beginning June 10, 2019. Please access DeWitt High School from Clark Road until Panther Drive reopens. We hope to have the road open by mid-July if everything goes as planned. The north entrance of the high school will be open during the construction on the main entrance.

Thank you for your patience as we enter this final phase of our bond project!
